Respect
What is respect to you? Now, I mean this in the most basic of ways. So much a basic level that you should close your eyes and center yourself. Then look deep within and determine what respect means to you.
Does this respect that you have found within yourself have a bar level? Meaning is it given freely then left to see if someone will squander it away? Do you shout the often quoted and some what over used phrase;
Respect is earned, not given.
Whatever way you divvy up your decision to see respect it still remains that it is important to a Gorean. It’s part of the ethos. Respect is something that Goreans never take advantage of. It is a definable characteristic within the Gorean community lying next to other must haves like honor, integrity, strength in all shapes and sizes, and other core beliefs.
Respect from me is given freely. I have no problem giving initial respect and letting that respect grow or dwindle dependent upon the persons actions, words and stances on subjects. By your actions not your words are judged. This is very true but your words sure help compact the feelings in which you inspire in others.
If a man tells his brethern that he is going to stop smoking, but still smokes whilst they are away and one of those men he considers brothers sees this action then by all means not only is the mans actions his downfall but he is now a liar. Thus his words have compacted upon his dishonor to himself, his lack of respect towards his fellow men and the respect they have will dwindle.
A crude example really but one that still has a means of showing the intention.
Respect is part of being what you say you are. It’s part of having honor. It’s part of many things and ultimately it is how you perceive in your interactions with others, Gorean or not has no matter. It is the consistency with which you do it.

Master,
Your words ring true to me. Respect is so rarely found these days on or off the computer. Perhaps Master will ignite a revolution!
